For years, startups have sought to optimize enterprise operations by streamlining processes, reducing inefficiencies, and minimizing time-consuming tasks. HackerPulse is the latest to tackle this challenge, offering a developer-focused analytics platform that helps enterprises identify productivity bottlenecks within their engineering teams.
A New Approach to Engineering Productivity
San Francisco-based HackerPulse integrates with widely used developer tools such as GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket, as well as revenue and user analytics platforms. By aggregating data from these sources, the company provides managers with a comprehensive dashboard that offers insights into how engineering teams spend their time, allowing them to optimize workflows and improve efficiency.
Unlike traditional performance-tracking tools, HackerPulse does not measure engineers by lines of code written. Instead, CEO and co-founder Gleb Braverman emphasizes that the platform is designed to help managers understand workflow bottlenecks, meeting times, and areas where engineering teams face roadblocks.
“It’s very difficult to understand what exactly the engineering team is doing and where their time is focused,” Braverman explained. “Technically, all of this information is available, but collecting and analyzing it takes a lot of time. Our goal is to simplify that process.”
From Side Project to Enterprise Solution
HackerPulse originally started as a self-tracking tool for engineers to monitor their own productivity. However, strong enterprise demand led Braverman to pivot towards a B2B model, tailoring the product for large engineering teams in industries such as telecom, manufacturing, and logistics—sectors that have been slower to adopt new technology.
The idea for HackerPulse emerged after Braverman listened to a podcast featuring Bill Gurley, general partner at Benchmark Capital, who noted the lack of disruption in professional ranking and analytics tools. Inspired, Braverman collaborated with Alberto Scherb, an early angel investor in his previous startup, Speakezee. After months of development, the platform officially launched in July 2024, quickly amassing 20,000 users.
Strong Market Demand and Investor Backing
HackerPulse has already attracted notable enterprise customers, including Preply, Coverflex, and DiscoverCars. On the back of strong demand, the company recently raised $1.5 million in seed funding, led by AltaIR Capital, with additional participation from Antler and DVC Fund, as well as angel investors from Uber, Cloudflare, and Google. These investors bring expertise in go-to-market strategies, pricing, and scaling enterprise solutions.
Despite competition from established players like Jellyfish, which has secured more than $110 million in funding, Braverman believes HackerPulse offers a more holistic approach. “We focus on how teams operate and optimize collaboration across teams, rather than just generating reports based on engineering data,” he said.
Future Growth and Expansion Plans
With fresh funding in hand, HackerPulse’s primary goal is growth. The company aims to expand its customer base, enhance product features, and scale revenue before considering a Series A round. “We want to reach several million in ARR before raising our next round,” Braverman stated. “Right now, our focus is on onboarding more customers, refining our platform based on user feedback, and positioning ourselves for the next stage of growth.
